Lauren Schnarr

Lauren is a self taught artist born and partly raised in Vancouver, B.C. Canada.Her parents are from Ohio and Texas and moved to Vancouver before she was born.Although she watched her mother paint during her childhood, she had little interest in painting until 1997 when she decided to try her hand with some oils and canvas her mother had given her.After her first painting, she was captured and has since painted over 400 canvases.

In the Spring of 2000, she began selling her work and committed herself to painting full time. Since then she has completed over 30 commissions and sold over 300 paintings to private and corporate patrons in Canada and the U.S.

Her work has been exhibited in several group shows, charity auctions and five solo shows.

Lauren’s style is expressive in colour, texture and form. Oil is her medium of choice for many reasons but mostly for the richness of colour and texture oils bring to the canvas.
For subject matter, she likes anything that brings forward movement and emphasis of colour to the canvas.“I believe that colour connects with our senses, emotions and memories.My work is more about creating beautiful colour relationships than the defining image itself.”

When Lauren is not painting or tending to business, her other passions include tennis, bike riding, skating, cooking and gardening.
